The opposition and civil society groups demanding the sack of Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah over the armoured cars saga have been told that they cannot force the minister out of the office.
National Coordinator of We The People Of Nigeria, a pressure group canvassing the continuity of President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformational agenda, Mr Elvis Agukwe said the involvement of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the matter confirmed that the crisis was politically motivated.
“Dino Melaye is an APC kingpin and he led the recent protests. Those calling for the sack of the minister are agents of the opposition. They want to destroy the image of the present government ahead of 2015”, Agukwe, a former Commissioner for Information in Imo State, said.
He regretted that there had been an orchestrated campaign of calumny against high performing ministers of President Jonathan just to rubbish the achievements of the government.
“If you look closely, you will notice that they started with the Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, then they went for the Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke. Now they are after Princess Oduah, the Aviation Minister. These are all star ministers of Jonathan whom they want to rubbish,” he stated.
He said a careful analysis of the controversy surrounding the purchase of armoured cars would show that the Aviation Minister had nothing to do with it, nor did she specifically requested for them.
